Overheard: Indy drivers’ comments about the Iowa Speedway
Posted on June 24, 2007 in Around the metro by DM
The Indy Corn 250 just finished moments ago at the Iowa Speedway in Newton, and sounds like the event was a winner all the way around (pardon the puns). Although Danica Patrick crashed and whined a little, there was something cool about seeing a nationally televised race and knowing it originated just down the road. Even better, the television coverage included these driver comments about the track:
“It’s a short oval, but it’s flat-out - the g’s are unbelievable, it’s very physical.”
“The amount of effort you have to put on steering… there’s no break going into the first turn…”
“…a beautiful facility…”
I think this is pretty cool stuff. When you put it together with participant commentary from the Hy-Vee Triathlon, I think it shows we can do this stuff well.
