Warriors cat clans vs. Zac Efron: Web wars!
Posted on July 12, 2007 in Entertainment, Parenthood by DM
I had to chuckle when I read Christi’s post about the Des Moines Playhouse production of “High School Musical.” She notes that there are fan pages, forums, chat rooms and all kinds of web goodies devoted to the HSM characters and their music.
The same thing is happening here at our house, where my DD has discovered several role-playing websites based on the Warriors series of books by Erin Hunter about roving cat clans. She loves these books - she has read every one of them currently in print at least three times, which is even more than I’ve read the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. And now she’s immersed in the online social world trying to work her way up to become Medicine Cat of River Clan.
Okay so here’s the thing: I recognize so much of my own behavior in what she’s doing - I was never much for role playing games, but I can totally relate to the “addicted to online socializing” phenomenon (been there/beat that! LOL). I can also totally relate to starting one project (her pet care blog) and abandoning it for something else more interesting (someday I will blog about that booth I had at Collectamania!).
However, I don’t want her to spend the rest of her summer online. I’m giving this cat thing til the end of the weekend, then I’m going to pen her up outside. <g>
