Weekend motorcycle ride

bikers at brushy creekWe took a really nice motorcycle ride today with a great group of friends - about 8-10 bikes total, depending on who joined us at different times of day. We left Waukee around 11 a.m. and traveled north. Our original goal had been to get to Webster City and then hit Springbrook Park on the way home, but we changed our minds and ended up taking a slightly more scenic route (!!) that took us just south of Webster City through Brushy Creek Park, the town of LeHigh, and then Dolliver Memorial State Park. These were beautiful twisty roads - going into LeHigh looked a whole lot like some of the historic little towns in Colorado or the Black Hills. About 220 miles total for the day. If you haven’t visited this area of Iowa, I highly recommend it. Here’s a webshots album with a few pictures, but these just show the pit-stops… I don’t have the right gear yet for taking pics from the bike!

How did you spend the weekend? Did anyone go to the Heritage Carousel anniversary or the ribs-and-blues festival up at the Iowa Events Center?
