Five Questions with… Lori Nordstrom

Five Questions With… is a weekly series on DMweblife highlighting Des Moines area bloggers and their blogs! This edition features Lori Nordstrom of Lori Nordstrom Photography, which showcases Lori’s ability to capture the true spirit of her photography subjects.

1. What’s the focus of your blog? (Or if you’d rather, What’s the main reason you began blogging?)
The main reason that I began blogging was to keep my clients posted on new things going on at the studio. I’m really bad about keeping my website updated, and thought the blog would be a quick easy way to add new things. It’s been really fun, but I haven’t been as faithful to it as I had hoped!

2. What aspect of blogging do you enjoy the most?
I really like that I can update the blog in just a few minutes. It’s an easy way to give a quick blurb about what’s going on at the studio.

3. What’s an activity besides blogging that you can’t live without?
Photography is my “job”, but even if it weren’t… I’m addicted! I love to do things with my 3 kids, and love to travel. If I had my choice, I’d live on the beach.

4. What’s the best advice - personal or professional - you’ve ever received?
Dream Big and write it down.

5. What’s something you’ve accomplished in the past five years that you are particularly proud of?
I had a goal of getting a magazine cover, and in the last 5 years I’ve had two! Being published is especially exciting for me, and I have a book coming out later this fall as well.

6. Tell us about the book…?
I’m writing a book, to be published by Amhearst, for photographers on the business and marketing of a maternity and baby photography studio. I speak to photography organizations all over the country, and have been to Canada, London, and China to teach photographers there. I also do consultations for studios. I also have ideas and inspiration DVD’s as well as templates available for photographers.
