Brad Olson arrested, bonded out

Posted on September 13, 2007 in Around the metro, City Government by DM

This whole situation with West Des Moines city councilman Brad Olson is just too odd for words. The shoplifted prescriptions were a misunderstanding, the stolen truck was a paperwork mistake… there just seems to be a lot of “oh that, that wasn’t my fault” with this case, in addition to all the odd behavior like not showing up for council meetings, living in a borrowed camper and/or stolen truck, etc. I think Mr. Olson needs to own up to the fact that he is at the very least not fulfilling his commitment to his constituents and resign from the Council, and then face his various legal issues like a responsible citizen.

From what I’ve followed in the news media–the newspapers, the radio and television stations’ websites–I agree. Even the mayor of West Des Moines is urging Mr. Olson to resign. He should get this over with so the residents of his ward can get a chance to elect a representative on the West Des Moines City Council who will deliver honest government.
