Claire Celsi has had a neat series this past week detailing her visits to all of the communities vying for the Iowa Great Places designation. As a member of the Great Places Board, Claire’s had the opportunity to visit these Iowa communities and take a look at their unique development plans: Charles City, Decorah, Davenport, Appanoose County, Council Bluffs, and Perry. I’m anxious to see what the Board decides. I mentioned to Claire in her comments that each of these would likely make a wonderful “Iowa day trip” for anyone looking for an in-state vacation.
Art Dinkin talks about a recent brush with debit card fraud over on Moment on Money - this is scary stuff… those of us who use debit cards for our daily transactions should definitely be checking our online banking sites daily for clues to fraudulent use.
The Live Lightly family has an amazing write-up about their first month on the road in their RV. I highly recommend subscribing to this feed if you are contemplating an extended RV adventure or just looking for proof that life can be a little “greener” even when traveling.
M.R. Field offers up some ideas for increasing voter turn-out in local elections over on Around Des Moines. This is an ongoing problem that most recently reared its head in our City Council primary and School Board elections.
