A quickie political news round-up, November 1

Look for books of matches to soon be kept behind pharmacy counters along with the cold medicine, obtainable only with written permission of the Attorney General and the Fire Marshall. Where’s Irwin Mainway when you need him??

Dennis Kucinich and Bill Richardson effectively ended their presidential campaigns during this week’s Democratic debate.

John Edwards, meanwhile, managed to once again visit all 99 Iowa counties in his campaign. Although the message he’s spreading is steeped in hypocrisy and overshadowed by the sheer weight of the burden his programs would put on taxpayers, at least he has made an effort to talk to certain pre-selected Dem-friendly Iowans at certain pre-selected photogenic locations in each county. Which is more than can be said for Fred Thompson. CNN reports that a good-kind-of-tired Edwards told reporters in “the real Coulter” on October 27, “”Not only have I visited all 99 counties, I’ve been taking questions from Iowans in all 99 counties.” No word on how soon he’ll actually be answering those questions.

Oh, and the Iowa Democrats ended up moving their caucus to January 3,  same night as the Republicans.
