DMweblife.com is a blog about the city that I’ve lived in for over 40 years. I’ll be blogging about life, work, events, businesses, people, hobbies, and anything else that strikes me as interesting or entertaining about Des Moines and the surrounding area.
And, I’ll also be building and strengthening the community of local bloggers. How? By reading and linking to as many of your blogs as I can - showcasing your posts, spotlighting your ideas, featuring your websites, having conversations (on your blog or mine, doesn’t matter) about the things that make Des Moines a world-class city.
I’ve been blogging since 2002, when I started with a rambling effort called “A Blogger Looks at 40.” After my birthday came and went, I got more confident and changed it to “You Know I’m Right.” I blogged irregularly there for a few years… started several blogs on several topics of personal interest. Along the way I had an idea for a community-oriented website that would cover lots of aspects of living and working in Des Moines, my home city, but the prospect of building and maintaining it in HTML was too daunting.
Recently it occurred to me that I could probably combine most of my personal blogging with the idea for the community website, and simplify things a great deal. It worked (!), and so here we have dmweblife.com - a blog that covers not only many of my own personal interests but also a lot about the Greater Des Moines area.
I have also become a little more active on some of the social networking sites. You can currently find me for networking and conversation on Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, AbsoluteDSM.com and Twitter. You’ll also find me on Yahoo IM.
I welcome your comments here on the blog, and, I hope to seek out and link to as many Des Moines-based blogs as possible (so if you’ve got one, send me a link!), because really, blogging’s more fun when it’s a two-way conversation!
