Surprised by my own post
Here’s something interesting that happened to me last week. Several weeks ago, I wrote a sort-of emotional post about taking more time to nurture my “writer within.” I almost published it immediately, but then decided for some reason to wait on it. I had gotten a little emotional writing it, and I wondered if it [...]
Finding more Iowa and Des Moines blogs and bloggers: the I List, IowaBlogs.net
A few items worth mentioning if you are looking for more Iowa-based blogs to read:
There’s been a list circulating of Iowa Bloggers called “The I-List.” It originated over on Drew McLellan’s marketing blog, and I’ve been wanting to find a way to share it with you, but as different bloggers talk about it on their [...]
Blog tools: search your own blogroll with Rollyo
I try to link back to the blog posts of other Des Moines area bloggers as often as I can. One of the ways I decide whom to link to from a particular post is this: I determine a topic I want to write about, then I do a Google search to see who else [...]
Bloggers: get MORE link-love from DMweblife!
Just a quickie post to let you know that I’ve added a new enhancement to my installation of WordPress, the blogging program I use here on DMweblife. It’s a tool called Comment-Luv, and it does something really nifty: when you leave a comment on one of my posts, it searches the URL you provide for [...]
Woops, I did it again - another new blog
Remember my post about simplifying my blogging life in 2008? Ha, yeah, me too. Well, that was short-lived. I think it was only a couple days later I bought a new domain name. With all that’s going on in my life these days it took me longer than usual to get the blog set up, [...]
What’s your blogging goal for 2008? (Or: A funny thing happened on the way to the resolution)
2007 was a big year for my personal blogging efforts. I learned that there can be a real purpose to blogging beyond just the usual navel-gazing and, well, I went a little overboard with the compartmentalization. I abandoned my original blog over on Blogger and after careful study decided to launch a marketing blog for [...]
‘Age of Conversation’ update: $11,000 raised for Variety
Earlier this year, when I was blogging over at www.marketingideablog.com, I was fortunate to participate in a multi-author, blog-to-bookshelf project called “The Age of Conversation.” The book was a fund-raiser for Variety - The Children’s Charity. So far, $11,000 has been raised and donated, with the book still for sale in e- and soft-cover formats. [...]
DMweblife’s first Blog Talk Radio show!
I finally have a day off from work and nothing pressing to do - HOORAY!! So I decided to take the opportunity to experiment with Blog Talk Radio, the web-based service that lets you produce your own podcast or call-in program. The topic of my first show is the Glenn Beck Christmas Show that my [...]
Quick update on… me!
It’s Sunday night, and I’m finally able to take a breath. When I said a couple weeks ago that it had been a difficult week, I really didn’t know how much more was in store. Dad came home from the hospital, did not seem to me to be doing all that well, and had a [...]
My other public appearance
Friday night’s karaoke adventure was actually my second live performance last week: I spent some time on November 8 as a guest speaker at Tim Johnson’s business leadership class, talking about social media for business and personal use. I also got to talk a bit about my role in the Age of Conversation collaborative blog-to-book project.
What a [...]
